     Fostertown Elementary School is located at 364 Fostertown Road in Newburgh, NY. Fostertown is a K-5 school. Enrollment is approximately 600 students. Average class size is 22 students.

     Fostertown’s programs revolve around their two schools of choice themes of Excellence through Creativity - Fine and Performing Arts & Dual Language Program. In addition, Fostertown offers Reading Enrichment Groups, Pupil Enrichment Program for grades 2-6 and co-integrated casses for all grades. Songs Swaps for grades K & 1, individual productions for grades 2 & 3 and larger productions for grades 4-6 are all activities for the students used to reinforce Fostertown’s magnet theme.

     Parent Involvement is very important to Fostertown School. The school has a very active Parent Teacher Club and parent involvement throughout the year with special events such as movie nights, bingo nights, family math/science nights, reading nights, book fairs and many other extracurricular activities for the family.

Fostertown Etc Magnet School Holds Fuel Up To Play 60 Food Tasting


     Recently, Fostertown ETC Magnet School students and staff kicked off the start of the school’s Healthy Snacking program, as well as the continuation of the Walk Across America Challenge. The program is part of the Fuel Up to Play 60 school health initiative.

Ms. Mahon and Ms. Hawes’ Kindergarten Class Spreads Cheer Overseas


     The students in Ms. Mahon and Ms. Hawes’ kindergarten class sent holiday pictures with personal messages to soldiers overseas as part of their study of Winter Holidays. In conjunction with a classroom parent, the children discussed how the soldiers might feel being away from home.

Fostertown ETC Magnet School Hosts Family Health and Wellness Night


     On Thursday, December 8, 2011, Fostertown ETC Magnet School held a Family Health & Wellness Night at to support the building’s grant-funded Fuel Up to Play 60 program. Jim Germanakos, a contestant from NBC’s The Biggest Loser, was a special guest for the evening and spoke to parents and students about his experience on the show during his fitness journey, answered questions from the audience, and signed autographs for students. .

Reading Garden Revitalized Following NECSD Community Partnership with Lowes


     This summer, the Fostertown ETC Magnet School “Reading Garden” was revitalized with a $2,400 donation and labor of love by employees from the Newburgh and Middletown Lowes Home Improvement stores.
